Green in autumn? Yes. How to wear a green jacket
Carolina Collaer · 31/10/2026
How to wear a green jacket in autumn, which colours it works with and why it may be one of the most interesting decisions in your wardrobe.
There are colours we automatically link to a season. Green tends to remind us of spring, while in autumn we think of camel, brown, grey or burgundy.
But who decided we have to dress in the colours of the landscape?
I am more interested in another question: how can we bring in a different colour without complicating our wardrobe?
And this is where green comes in.
Green has its place in autumn too
Green has an interesting quality: depending on its shade and how you pair it, it can be discreet, sophisticated or become the star of an outfit.
You don’t need to wear green from head to toe. A single jacket can completely change pieces you have been wearing for years.
The key is knowing what to wear it with.
Three ways to wear a green jacket
1. Green and chocolate: a pairing with character

Chocolate brown has depth and brings warmth. With green it creates a harmony that is especially interesting in autumn.
Try chocolate trousers, an ecru jumper and the green jacket. A combination with personality that never feels too much.
2. Green and grey: effortless sophistication

Grey is one of those colours that lets you bring in different shades without losing elegance.
Straight grey trousers, a white T-shirt or shirt and the green jacket. Simple, urban and perfect for work, lunch out or any ordinary day.
3. Green and burgundy: to step away from the predictable

This is the pairing I find most interesting.
Burgundy brings depth and green adds contrast. You don’t need large doses of either: a burgundy bag, like the Rubí Rebelle in CARO’s finds, can be enough to transform the outfit.
Two colours with presence, as long as we know how to balance them.
What if green isn’t in my palette?
Something worth clarifying here: there is no single green.
There are warm and cool greens, bright, deep and muted ones. Olive green doesn’t have the same effect near the face as emerald or teal.
So before ruling out a colour, it is worth looking at its shade and how it responds to your skin.
And knowing your colour analysis shouldn’t become a ban. It is a tool to choose better and use colour with more intention. You can start by discovering your palette with COLORIMETRY ME!, the colour quiz of CARO’s style studio.
Before you buy another jacket
There is one question I always recommend asking: can I put together at least three outfits with pieces I already own?
If the answer is yes, it is probably a purchase worth making.
It isn’t about adding a colour because it is in fashion, but about checking that it truly fits the way you dress.
CARO’s choice
This season I am adding an olive green jacket to CARO’s finds: suede-effect finish, shirt collar, shoulder tabs and a gathered hem that gives it volume. A one-off piece.

I chose it because I want to offer alternatives to the usual autumn colours and show that a piece with personality doesn’t have to be hard to wear.
My advice: before buying something new, imagine how it will live with what you already have. Because a good wardrobe isn’t the one with the most pieces. It is the one that gives you the most possibilities.
Know how to choose. Know how to wear. Know how to be.
